Pixie Dust

Baby A's room is starting to come together :) Walls are painted, trim is retouched and the ceiling is sparkling some fierce:) Adding the glam to the ceiling wasn't as tricky as I had origionally thought..I bought Valspar ceiling paint that goes on purple and dries white (awesome for tracking what you have and have not painted). I painted 2 foot sections and then dusted with purple/white fine glitter, using an old makeup brush. Even though I ended up looking like a washed up prom queen, via my overly glitterized face and messy hair...I am extremely pleased with the results :)

22 weeks Pre-Paint/glitter



Week 22

This week was a pretty productive one! We painted the nursery and finished registering! When I say "we" I really mean "me" and Brandon in spirit. We've been together going on 8 years now (whoa) and have figured out that A. I'm the creative one, he's the financial one. B. He's not that neat of a painter and C. Unless he has the opportunity to scan every as seen on tv product in the store (like he did for our wedding), he has no desire to register ;) So on Saturday my cousin Heather braved the cold and together we combed the baby stores for all day hours. Walking up all those aisles and comparing products, (of which you most likely know nothing about) is both exhausting and overwhelming.  I ended up registering at Babiesrus, Buy Buy Baby & Pottery Barn Kids. In case you have never been to a Buy Buy Baby (It's owned by bed bath and beyond; hence you can use your coupons at buybuybaby too!!) It has 10 times more of a selection then babiesrus....the downside is the only one in Michigan, is in Grand Rapids. I found most of my big ticket items there, bedding at Pottery Barn and lots of odds and ends at Babiesrus. Adelie's closet continues to grow, and I can't believe in four months she will actually be wearing them :)!


22 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss: Up 9 lbs.

Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Sleeping ok... although with a bigger belly, it's getting challenging to get comfortable....
Best moment this week: Painting the nursery walls, even Brandon told me it looks pretty :)

Looking forward to: Laying the carpet in the nursery and saying goodbye to that disaster you might call a floor.
Worst part of the week: Agreeing to pick up Brandon and his friends from downtown after a night out at the bars. At 2am. Never a good idea.

Nursery Progress

Saturday at 9pm. This was when I drove myself to Home Depot, picked out the color

  Potentially Purple, came home and started painting the nursery like a crazy person. Baby A's nursery (without giving too much away) will be somewhat nontraditional...lots of color, sparkle and glam... ;)  Here's a quick late Sunday night update:

Grey shag carpet will soon be replacing this monstrosity 

Here's the planned layout. Glider, Ottoman and crib have been ordered. Bookcase is yet to be found, and crib/dresser/bookcase have yet to be painted. Yes. Painted. In case you have not had the privilege of visiting my little slice of heaven, everything is colorful and 99% of my furniture has been re-purposed and painted. Baby A's nursery will be no exception.  The rest is finishing touches and pixie dust ;)

Baby A's Closet

I have offically come down with the sickness. Not your normal sickness, and definitely not morning sickness. This one is much much worse. It's the kind of sickness that takes over whenever you walk into a store. Your eye starts twitching, heart rate increases, your hands get clamy and an inner magnet starts pulling you towards the baby section. I think it's called babygirlitis. It's only when you're standing in the middle of the colorful, soft and so so so sweet baby clothes that these symptoms subside. Between gifts from friends & family and these impulse shopping sprees, baby girls closet is slowly filling up with colorful tidbits and unresistable cuteness. Below are a few pieces of sweetness that will be/ or have already been added to her wardrobe. She's pretty much the best dressed unborn baby ever ;)

Week 21

This week baby girl is the size of a large banana Burrito. <--We're eating Mexican tonight for our romantic Valentines dinner :) Nothing sounds more appealing than squishing into a small booth, at a holeinthewall restaurant, mowing down piles of spicy mexican food and sipping on a virgin margarita.....I found out that my friend at work (who's 2 weeks behind me) is having a girl, and my eldest cousin is having a little boy! :) So excited for all the babies this summer!



21 Weeks

  The nursery is offically in construction mode! It has been cleared out and will be painted this Saturday, carpet to be laid shortly after. My eyes cannot take the blue and yellow tile a.n.y.m.o.r.e.  I finally found thee perfect dresser that will double as a changing table, in a small consignment shop (Which will also be painted this weekend) Brandon says "slow down, we have a while to go and do not need to have everything done right now." Four months. That's it. Ignoring the fact that 1.  I have been waiting to decorate this room myentirelife 2. I'm too excited to wait and 3. My painting projects take lotso time....I have an unbelieveably packed schedule the next four monthes. Almost every weekend is either booked with photography (My last wedding is June 1) or a shower (for me..a cousin..a friend...a sisterinlaw...) you get the picture... Bottom line, Is that this baby is going to be here be here before we know it! So if you need to find me this weekend, I'll be in the nursery with a hard hat and a painting mask listening to pandora;)

Sleep: Back to having insomnia. Baby Girl, up at 3am every morning is not the schedule we wanted to get started on.
Best moment this week: Seeing the nursery cleared out and a blank canvas. Cannot wait to start painting :)

Movement: O ya. At 10.5 inches from head to toe shes def. taking up more space in there :)

First: Our waitress at dinner noticed I was pregnant while I was sitting down, and then she asked if it was a girl and if it was our first....Brandon smile was so big when he answered her :)

Friday morning at 3am on the dot I was awoken to a very excited baby that was kicking up a storm in my belly. Baby must have been very excited to say hi to us at the ultrasound :) I drove from work to the drs office, (may or may not have screamed at every stoplight, due to excitement.) and met Brandon. Once in our room, the tech dimmed the lights and squeezed awholelot of gel on my belly and there it was. Up on the big screen. The most perfect little banana we had ever seen. Ten toes, ten fingers (which were curled up into fists for most of the visit) and everything a banana is required to have at 20 weeks.

After what seems like forever Brandon and I are so so so happy to announce that BB is definitely and without a doubt, indeed a sweet baby GIRL. (Believe me, Brandon asked a few times ;) The tech said, "nope. definitely no scrotum here"Brandon replied "It's gotta be there someplace.."  Poor Brandon. Looks like it's Barbies and tea parties for daddy <3 And he will be wrapped around her sweet little finger from now on!


Let me just tell you. It has been killing me to keep this a secret. 1. I'm really not a good secret keeper. 2. I've said girl this whole time, and everyone has been telling me boy. 3. I'm just so excited :)
