Week 49

We started off our week celebrating Memorial Day and remembering all those who have served.  It was a pretty low key Monday swinging in the hammock just the three of us.  Tuesday we went to the pool for the first time this year!  Last year I was looking at this

Adelie is such a water baby!! I couldn't keep her away from the water for 5 seconds before she was bear crawling back to it! The CC has a kiddie pool with a slow decline, so she could sit just barely in the water and splash while watching the bigger kids :)  She's also a fan of hot fudge sundaes.

She is her mothers daughter.

I have been clearing out Adelie's soon to be play area and was able to score a new-to-us jungle gym with a slide off Craigslist mid week.  Her initial reaction was to cry but she quickly realized how much fun she could have on it. It's not very big, but she'll get some use out of it for a few years.  We also scored a Little Tikes dollhouse that I have been on the hunt for! They just don't make toys the way they used to, and I remember as a kid loving this dollhouse! Now we just need to find some furniture and dolls for it ;)  

Adelie is looking more and more like a Toddler especially now that she wears mostly two piece outfits that do not contain a onesie :(  She is currently in size 4 diapers, eating mostly human food with an occasional stage 3 baby food.  She loves toast, grilled cheese and the fruit/veggie pouches.  Her newest achievement is the word "YA!" Which is pretty much my response to anything she says.  

Ex: A-"Dada!" J-"YA!" 

When I pick her up she likes to lay her head on my shoulder and mimic me, patting my back. I hope she never stops doing that.  

Thursday we had to make a quick trip into the oil change place (first outing with both of them). Liam pulled the short stick and had to sit in the old carseat ;) They did great and talked the whole time!

We had a first birthday shoot this week for a little girl one day older than Adelie!! Her First Birthday pictures are coming up!!! EEEEK!

Week 48

Playing a little catch up this week as my busy season for photography is underway and we are still coming down off our cloud nine of a three day weekend ;)  Adelie is now letting go of things and standing.  Still only taking a few steps towards me, but only if I really call her. We have staked out her new outdoor play area and are SO excited to put everything together for her party!
During the week I played a repetitive game of catch the babies as they both move so fast now and usually in opposite directions.  So fun, but holy exhausting!
 Adelie and I ran out pretty much every night when we got home, to snap a few photos in our new headbands  :)  I have been constructing these overthetop headbands and Adelie is like always, my perfect model-Plus we are loovvvinnggg this summer weather!!
On friday we headed south for a wedding and a series of shoots, Ads got some much needed Aunt Jam time and loving from her GG Carol :)  Since my vehicle was completely stuffed to the brim with photo props, Adelie's gear and mine, we did not pack her pack and play.  Up until now we have gotten away with her just sleeping in the bed with me when we visit my dad.  She could still sleep with me, even though she does five million somersaults and I usually wake up with bruises all over my body, but the whole "bedtime" has become an issue.  Since she could easily fall right off the bed, she stayed up with us the whole weekend until we went to bed. Around 10:30pm. #naughtymomstatus Since we partied late aka watched home videos, Adelie has been catching up on sleep the last few days ;)
Fun things she's also doing. Waking up looking for and saying "dada" both in a high pitch voice and in a raspy gremlin one.  Actually, she does this all day long.  Pulling everything off of any table she can find.  Playing king kong so great, that she pulls all the baby gates right out from the walls.  Opens all cabinets but prefers the dog dishes.  She is also an official grass and wood chip taster.  Want her opinion on your lawn? She's taking bookings currently.  Every day she wakes up looking more and more like a toddler and less like a baby :( She's such a curious and silly little lady and oh my gosh so fun! Looking forward to some super fun first Birthday Pictures for her invites this weekend! :)

Week 47

We have been busy crafting for little misses first birthday all week! whaattt. Including lot's of huge headbands  to match all her frilly outfits, which been arriving in the mail :) Cannot believe that we are one month out!  We ventured to the greenhouse on Saturday to pick up some purple flowers to plant and some gorgeous looking hanging baskets. The dogs may of may not have already trampled the ones I planted around the tree in the back yard, but I will not let that discourage me from having a landscaped backyard! Adelie absolutely loved helping me plant and it brought back so many warm memories of me helping my mother.  Her flowers were always the best and she took a lot of pride in them :)  Ads may have beheaded several petunias during our afternoon, but her heart was in the right place ;)
Adelie continues to get faster and faster. She can go from eating a quiet snack in the kitchen to pulling out every kleenex in the box in the living room in 2.5 seconds.  Since we live in a tri-level house that means three sets of stairs.  Which means that baby gates went up this week! Mommy loves it, Adelie loves to bang on them and yell like she's King Kong and the dogs hate it.  Ya win some, ya lose some.

Mid week we went to Red Lobster for a be-lated mothers day dinner just the three of us. Adelie loved the cheddar biscuits so much that we went again on Sunday with Papa Ron ;)

We are still only taking a few steps at a time and only when I set her up for the opportunity, she prefers to crawl. And wait for it……she is taking naps again! We are averaging two naps a day now! Jackpot! On the downside, it must mean she's growing :(

Week 2 vs Week 47

Week 46

We had another big week of milestones! Adelie can now stand by herself, only for about a minute before she gets overly excited and sits down ;)  She also has started smiling with a crinkled nose which totally melts my heart! And..this just in (since this post is two days late)

Adelie took her first steps!

On May 12th 2014 Adelie started letting go of the furniture and took several steps. Holy Cow.  It was SO exciting and I fought the urge to push her down and pretend it wasn't happening ;)  Liam is now crawling on all fours and also started pulling himself up yesterday as well! Things are about to get super busy! 

Food wise Ads loves grilled cheese, apple juice in her sippy and all of the Plum/Sprout squeezy juice pouches.  She now tries just about anything that is on my plate and I've learned sharing is the best form of diet for a mama ;)  

We took our new Craigslist find-A double stroller out for a spin mid week and the babies lovvveeddd the fresh air! It finally broke 80 in Michigan and we soaked up every ounce of sunlight! The only downside of going for a walk with the two are all of the rolling hills in the neighborhood. HOLY Workout!  Around the walking path and straight to the swings- where Liam squeals with delight, swinging as high as I'll push him, and Adelie clinging for dear life.
Friday some girlfriends came over for a wine and canvas night in my sunroom! I tell you what, THAT is the way to do it! And for a fraction of the price ;)  Just might be my new favorite friday activity!

We celebrated my first Mother's Day on Sunday visiting Brandon's grandmother back home.  Adelie talked very loudly the whole time and was a complete ham.  She laughed hysterically at the cows and got to see her first horse close up :)

The reality that a first birthday is coming next month is mind-blowing. The rest of the party decor was ordered today and this weekend is a long overdue craft time!  If you need us, we'll be covered in colored tinsel and sparkles! ;)
