Week 22

We are starting to feel the cold coming! Snow flurries throughout the weekend! Brrrrr! Adelie is living in her nine month long sleeve onesies, leggings and slippers (she has quite the collection of those). Miss Ads is one lonnggg Babe. She is still hanging out in the 100th percentile for height and 78th for weight. Five months old on friday, she can now roll over (I think she'll be semi-crawling before she sits) oink, fake cough, make a pretty great Mexican parrot noise and is eating baby foods stage 1 for two meals a day!
I believe we are now smack dab in the middle of the most frustrating baby stage for both her and us.  I've heard that the 4th and 5th month are the least favorite months because she wants to move but can't. She can roll over but can't roll back. She wants to sit up but isn't strong enough. Basically she wants to sit on your lap and be carried around because she wants to constantly see something new.  She even gets frustrated in her jumperoo, because she refuses to extend her frog legs and jump. (Product of being an overdue baby ;) Add teething on top of these frustrations and you have a slobbery loud busybody.
I love that slobbery loud busybody but holy cow.
Looking forward to month 6 so the poor girl can sit up and not have to rely on us to explore :(
P.S. Little lady officially has two teethies!!
but you can only see them when she cries, because when she smiles only her top gummies show ;)

In holiday news we have been scouring the web for brilliant toys that will engage her and that she won't grow out of in two seconds.  I've come to the conclusion that we will be getting her a few Fisher Price toys, but I'm really into the handmade selections I've been stumbling upon!  Etsy is the most adorable marketplace for one of a kind kids toys!  I'm still on the hunt for the perfect stocking.  B and I have had our matching ones for quite a long time and trying to find a similar one has proven to be quite the challenge!

Our home will officially be home to our Family Thanksgiving this year!
We are so incredibly excited to host this year and cannot wait to have all of our family in the same place to gawk at the babies to eat great food and share lots of laughs!
A complete rundown on our Thanksgiving prep food & House decor coming tomorrow! :)

The girl is a texting fool!

Week 21

Happy Friday You Filthy Animals!
Christmas preparations are in full swing at the Beck Household.  I usually force myself to wait until after Thanksgiving, but when I realized my Thanksgiving decorations were really my Halloween pumpkins turned backwards so you couldn't see their faces, I made the executive decision it was time to Deck the halls.
We have busted out the Christmas Pajamas, our favorite Christmas movies, ordered our Christmas Cards and have been burning our Cinnamon Frosting Candle like nobody's business ;) Christmas is totally more fun to plan for when you have a child! I have honored Brandon's request to not put up the tree until after Thanksgiving, but we do have several small evergreens sitting in random corners of the house :) I have several more decorations up my sleeve that will go up the day after Thanksgiving....
turning this into The North Pole...Elf style ;)
Bright Baby toys are completely festive right?
The brings me to Adelie's huge haul yesterday.
We went to visit Brandon at the office

Once we each got our share of smooches, it was off to the store where we were in need of a few items for Miss Ads.
A toothbrush, because her first tooth officially broke through, and another will be out very VERY shortly!
A Jumperoo, because the girl was tired of laying flat.
SHE LOVES IT

She also got some new festive Jammies
Size 12m Whhhaaaatttt???  (bottoms are still a little big, but two piece jammies melt my heart)
To add to her collection :)

Did I mention she's also rolling over like a maniac? Seriously.

Since she is growing like a crazy lady, we decided to finally pack all of her size Newborn-3m clothes away in a tote.  And here's to hoping she has a sister one day.... X)

Speaking of clothes, the other day I was digging through my closest and found this little number. Still in the bag. An impulse buy when I was very pregnant and hid it from Brandon misplaced it in the back of my closet... SO glad I found it in time for all the Holiday Parties! Thinking of pairing it with some red tights and black suede booties!

These movies have been playing on repeat in our DVD/VCR players ;)
Would like to add Jingle all the way soon, and maybe the rest of the Santa Clause movies...guess it's time to visit our dear Craigslist lady!!

Week 20

This weeks post comes to you from a heavy heart.
This is not intended to be a totally sad post, but I have a few thoughts that have been circulating in my head that I needed to write down. I'll post lots of Adelie pictures to make up for the tears :)
Yesterday marked the 3rd anniversary of losing my mother. All week I've been more aware than I have been, that Adelie will never get to meet her Grandma Barbie. I should really come up with another name, because there is NO way my mom would have went by Grandma.  I'm not old enough to be a Grandma is what she'd say ;) My mother played a huge role in who I am today, and believe it or not she had one in Adelie too.
I remember coming home from a music class my Junior Year at UofL. We had just watched the black and white musical Guys and Dolls.  The main female character was named Adelaide. I really liked the name and was so excited when I called my mom to tell her that was what I was going to name my future daughter.  Mind you kids were no where in my immediate future.  Upon telling her my genius name, she said, " Ehh I don't know about Adeliade, how about Adelie?" And so Adelie was named four years before she even existed. My mom is the genius.
My mother would have went NUTS over Adelie. She called me when we lived in Louisville sobbing about how she saw this grandma with her granddaughter, shopping at Target and the grandma was spoiling her rotten and she wouldn't be able to do that if we lived four hours away, so we better just move home.  How I wish she could steal her away from me for a day now and teach her how to shop. How to paint her nails, fishtail her hair (which she will get someday eventually), share a spoonful of cookie dough, dance around the kitchen with, be the one who cuts her hair for the first time, and makes sure I tape a lock of hair into her baby book. Attend every sporting event for her entire life and bring festive goodies for Adelie to share with her friends, Fight through the crowds, showing Ads just how to shop on Black Friday, bring her back to home base and cuddle up next to the wood stove while watching footloose. Her favorite.
As Adelie gets older and starts interacting more with us, laughing, oinking and chattering, I am getting super bummed my mom isn't here to see how fun she really is! Which leads me to all the happy shenannigans she is up to these days!
This week Adelie has now ate green beans (her favorite, and my moms too!) sweet potatoes, carrots, and peaches.
O my goodness it is SO fun watching her make a face as she eats these new foods, yet opens her mouth begging for more!Oink Oink Oink
When laying on her belly she can totally lift her head and look about, but gets mad after a few minutes because she hasn't figured out how to roll back to her back.  She has been sleeping in her crib for the past two weeks. I wake up every few hours to check the monitor and wait for her to start stirring in the morning so I can go bring her into our bed to snuggle ;)  If we put her down for bed and she's not quite ready to lay down, she puts up one HUGE oink show.  Seriously it's the cutest thing. She oinks very loud and very clear, so that we have to stay at her crib side for just a few more minutes with her ;)
She's a smart cookie.
