Bedroom Makeover

We have lived in our house for two years. We got super lucky that the houses previous owners had pretty great taste in paint colors. We've only repainted two rooms, my prop/craft room and Adelie's room. We all remember the nightmare that room was. Need a reminder? Click Here.

It was a few weeks ago when Brandon and I were laying in our full size bed with Adelie in between us and both dogs trapping our legs that we decided Hey, it's about time we get a new bed. So that's what we decided on for Christmas this year. 

WE ARE GETTING A KING SIZE BED.

Can I just note how ecstatic we are about finally getting to sleep in a grown up bed? We both have full size bedroom suites from growing up, and only one guest bedroom so it has always seemed silly to get another bed. But after

We decided it was time.

So thus starts operation Bedroom Makeover.  

I was able to score two sets of sheets on black friday (as I do every year) to start the creative process :) 

Grey and a Jewel Toned Blue

Our comforter is still TBD. I'll probably just go with our favorite gathered comforter from Target. We have three of them for our bed now ;) I LOVE the way they look!

This is thee Bed we've decided on

Our walls right now are a warm tangerine color which I'm thinking of changing to either

Light Grey

or

China White

Something light to open up the room a little bit lot.

Our Wood floors and trim are a warm Maple, which will be staying, although I'd love to stain them dark.... Maybe I can convince Brandon ;)

Our Dresser and Side tables are mine from my childhood and are a dark Cherry.

Obviously we have not put a whole lot of thought into Our sleeping space until now

I am still on the fence about If I want to paint them or go with a completely new (Old and repurposed) set.  I want to accent in mirrors, teals, greens and patterns.

I snagged 3 canvas vouchers on black friday as well, that I will be designing and hanging.

Since a bed is a pretty big  HUGE purchase, we decided it would be our only present to each other for Christmas.  So our tree is looking pretty sparse with Adelie's few presents under it. 

A. Six months is really hard to buy for.

B. Baby toys are impossible to wrap.

Week 26

We woke up this morning just like we do every Sunday since she's been born. Brandon sleeps in and Adelie and I venture downstairs to start our day ;)  However, something was totally different today. My little lady turned

 6 Months old!

Holy Cow. Half a year old. Slow down time.  We love this little girl so much its unreal. She has brought more love and happiness into our lives than we ever thought possible. She continues to be such an easy going all around happy baby!  

As of now she is still in size 2 diapers. We normally put her in pampers, but had a package of Luvs in the back of her closet, tried them out & I think we actually like those better!  She is wearing size 9m outfits and 12m leggings.  

Food wise she has an 8oz bottle when she gets up, one more around 10, a stage 1 veggie and fruit for lunch around noon, an 8oz bottle around 3, a stage 1 veggie and fruit for dinner around 5:30 and an 8oz bottle around 7pm.

She's usually in bed around 7:30 and sleeps through the night with seven of her favorite babies until about 7:30 when Brandon gets up for work.  She takes anywhere between 3 and 4 naps a day ranging anywhere from 30min to 2.5 hours at a time.   She is extremely good about telling us what she wants and when she's tired, so we do not have a set in stone schedule. We sort of just roll with the punches ;)

Her favorite tricks and sounds recently include stick her tongue out and spitting (not sure where she picked that one up from) whimpering like a puppy and rolling over in her bed, letting her feet dangle through the crib bars and showing off her vocal range.

This week we went shopping with Aunt Jam followed by dinner with Papa Ron and Uncle George! We LOVE getting to spend time with fam and are SO excited for Christmas with everyone!  On Thursday we also got a visit from one of our very best friends, Steph from the blog

We had so much fun catching up, watching VHS and eating amazing Mexican food!

Week 25

Tis the season for late blog posts! We have been so busy over here running a sweat shop knitting scarves and editing photos that I am just now able to sit and blog. sheeza.  This past week besides working on orders and making multiple trips to the post office (where Adelie is quite the hit) we also hit up the mall a few times.  If you can stand the crowds, the mall during the holidays is the PERFECT place to take a nearly SIX month old. Bright colors, Christmas lights and festive music, Ads was in heaven!  The girl still can almost sit up but not quite, her core muscles are a work in progress.  She is just not heavy enough to touch the floor in her jumeroo and has finally grasped the concept of jumping!   On Friday we had Brandon's work Christmas party downtown, Adelie wore her cuter-than-cute Christmas dress which I unbelievably forgot to take a picture of her in! No worries though, we have a few more Christmas parties coming up ;)  After dinner Adelie & Cousin Liam went back to G+Gs house for a sleepover so we could all go out for a few cocktails. In the Winter Wonderland department, we are c o v e r e d in SNOW! It has snowed everyday for the past week! Adelie really loves looking out the window at it :)  Next year we'll invest in a snowsuit so we can play in it!

Small Biz Christmas

Every year we crowd the stores to fill our carts with a bunch of store bought plastic and random gifts for our loved ones. As I've gotten older, I see how unthoughtful and annoying the Christmas Present buying has really become.  A toaster for Bill, a cheap sweater for Sally. I'm really over it.  Our homes are filled with stuff. Stuff that we may or may not use or appreciate. I've been known to Target binge buy on occasion, but this year I'm looking to small businesses for most of my Christmas Presents!
